The Project
Formula Student is, in short terms, an annual project where students from universities around the world are building single-seated cars from scratch and then race against each other. The project recruitment is usually held in the beginning of each fall semester to form the final team.
Formula student, as a project, varies from one University to another since there are no standard routine schedule existing. However, inside the walls of Karlstad University that gives shelter from various kinds of weather is Clear River Racing – A team working from dusk till dawn.
Clear River Racing consists of six groups focusing on six different areas: Chassis, Suspension and Control, Body, Engine and powertrain, Electrics and Public Relations. These groups that form the entire team are collaborating both during and after school time, which indicates a superior team spirit and dedication throughout the year. At its disposal, the team has a modern workshop, advanced computer software and experienced leadership who provide coaching and hints and tips of high value.
A project with the size of Clear River Racing is certainly in the need of financial support and with the assistance of sponsorship from our involved partners we are assured a bright future with great conditions. Clear River Racing is also participating in numerous exhibition shows during this year to promote both sponsoring companies and the project itself.
However, Formula Student is so much more than just car building and racing. It is a perfect opportunity where students from different educations co-operate with each other, developing their skills and knowledge for their forthcoming careers since the project is so extensive and covers several areas such as engineering, economy, marketing and leadership. In addition, the students also get a chance in creating connections with the industri in wich they are interested to work at after the graduation.
The main goal is to finish our vehicle in time and to participate in the annual, international motor event Formula Student at the famous racing track Silverstone in the United Kingdom along with Universities from around the world.
