Newsletter November CRR24

A whole month has gone by and it’s time for another update!

We have reached a new milestone in the project, the CAD-deadline! The team has been working on finishing designing all the parts so that we are able to move on from the designing phase to the manufacturing phase. Everyone has done a great job and we are looking forward to start manufacturing!

On November 9th we held our work fair IN-Dagen and it was a huge success! Over 40 companies participated and we had a large flow of students throughout the day. The team has worked hard to make this day successful and we are proud to say that we’re not the only ones who thought it was a rewarding day. We have gotten great feedback from both students and the companies who were present. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this day a great one!

Something else we did this month was attend the Mortorsportsalongen fair. It was a great opportunity to talk to other motorsport enthusiasts and to spread the word about the project. We had such a great time and thank you to everyone that came to say hi!

Our team apparel arrived this month, thank you Myshkin Karlstad for your help! Parts of the team visited Holotech CAD/CAM AB to learn about CAM. Thank you for taking the time to teach us! Other parts of the team visited Karlstad Makers to learn how to use their CNC mill for our future partnership. Thank you for having us!

Let’s see what the team has been up to!

Aerodynamics

During this past month, the aerodynamics group has worked a lot in CAD to be able to put the aerodynamic package through CFD-analysis to make sure that our parts perform as they are intended to do. We have started doing full-car simulations and it’s currently giving us good results. We have also worked with testing out our new epoxy-based glue to ensure that the mechanical properties meet our requirements.

Chassis

During November, the chassis group has primarily focused on finalizing the design for the steel space frame chassis, the bodywork, various electronics containers, and brackets. All this to meet our CAD-deadline by the end of this month. To achieve this goal, the group has dedicated significant effort to brainstorm, analyze, and refine designs. Subsequently, we have diligently documented our progress, gearing up for the Structural Equivalency Spreadsheet (SES). This document serves as a comprehensive proof of concept for all structural aspects, a crucial requirement that must be completed before the upcoming competitions. November has been a very busy period for the chassis group, and much progress has been made, all thanks to the group’s hard work!

Suspension & Maneuvering

The main focus of the suspension and maneuvering group this month has been to finalize the designs of the rear upright and wheel hub assembly. The steering system has been modified to fit our new car and to work correctly with our changed steering geometry. Together with the chassis group, we have made the a-arm geometry so that we will use existing parts of the steel tube frame as much as practically possible when mounting our a-arms to keep the weight low. Furthermore, the pedal-box has been improved, some small changes have been made to the front suspension and the dampening system has been reworked. We have all worked hard to get everything done in time for the CAD-deadline by the end of November.

Drivetrain & Electronics

This month, the group has continued to work on circuit boards and designing the driver- and side panel. A lot of work has been done in cooperation with Chassis to finish our electrical boxes with the CAD-deadline coming up. We have received components from Analog Devices through the Tesla BMS sponsorship, we can’t wait to get started with those! We have done improvements in our telemetry and we can now save data for analysis when driving. We’ve also done simulations for our tractive system and cooling system.

Marketing & Finance

In the past month, our Business Relations and Finance group has progressively solidified and refined our roles, enhancing our comfort and efficiency. By clearly defining and understanding the requirements of each role, we have established a more harmonious working dynamic.

A significant milestone was organizing and participating at IN-Dagen, where we had the opportunity to interact with an impressive array of companies. This experience allowed us to forge valuable connections and establish business relationships. Simultaneously, we have intensified our preparations for upcoming competitions by reviewing past documents and dedicating time to acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge. We are grateful for the support we have received and look forward to continuing our journey of success.

This month, Marketing & PR have done the last bit of marketing for IN-Dagen as well as continued to keep our social media updated with content. We had a team photoshoot and have updated our website with this year’s team. Go on and have a look! We are currently working on the team presentation for our social media that’s coming very soon and we’re also looking ahead to prepare for upcoming content and events.

We are now doing the last bit of work before the team takes some well deserved rest to reload for the new year and the second half of the project!
